3 Tips for Getting Your Home Holiday Ready

Home for the Holidays

Photographs by Margaret Blunt

If you’re like me, there’s nothing quite as motivating as a deadline to get a project done.  Thinking ahead to the holidays now gives you plenty of time to fully prepare your home for company by Thanksgiving. Whether you’re considering a full room remodel or just a quick and easy update,  it’s not too early to start planning.

Fall is a busy time for everyone, especially contractors and design professionals working diligently to meet their client’s holiday deadlines.  When you consider lining up contractors, design time to make selections, and lead time from order to delivery, planning now makes good sense.

Comfortable Seating

New cushions and pillows are a simple and stylish way to update a dining area.  Here the kitchen banquette and dining chair cushions are dressed in a striking Schumacher plaid. The pillows in bold, bright fabrics, embellished with fun fringe and cord trims perfectly complete this dining ensemble.

Table Runner

A table runner can be simple or ornate.  It can be the pop of color your dining table needs or a statement on its own.  Add a botanical centerpiece and your table will be ready to be filled with family, friends and food.

Window Treatments

Of course window treatments are our favorite way to update any room. With bare windows, a room just doesn’t feel complete.  Here a simple arch shaped box pleat valance in an embroidered linen softens the angles of this bay while framing the window and the view. Simply beautiful!
